Google wants to professionally photograph your business – FREE!
Google has rolled out an initiative to get local businesses photographed around the world, and for the images to be uploaded to the corresponding businesses Google Places listing. Google is allowing businesses to apply for this free photo shoot, where a Google trusted photographer will visit the premises and take professional images of both the interior and exterior of the building.
What’s the point?
Right now you may be asking yourself: “what’s the point?” Just as you should never judge a book by its cover, you should never judge a business by its exterior. Google aims to allow browsers a unique insight into the business, through professional imagery and panoramic shots. By enhancing your Google Places page, business photos will help showcase what you have to offer.
Is it available in my area?
At the time of writing, Google are offering this service in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney and Darwin, as well as areas in many other countries e.g. USA, UK, New Zealand.
How will this service impact my listing?
Until now, when a search was made for your business or the service you provide, users were offered the option to view the location of your store/premises on Google Maps. Users were able to see the street the business was located on. With this new service, consumers are able to ‘visit’ your premises without leaving their homes. To better understand what this means, take a look at Gruhn Guitars Inc enhanced Google Places listing.
I’m interested, how do I apply?
Applications for an official Google business photo shoot can be made directly to Google using this web form, which can be found right here.
Am I guaranteed a photo shoot?
Unfortunately not. If you are selected for an official Google business photo shoot, a Google trusted photographer will contact you with more details and for a final confirmation before photographing your business.
Do Bang! recommend applying?
Of course! This can only be an improvement to your current listing, as Google are doing all the leg work here to improve the service they offer and ultimately improve your Google Places listing. Having the professional photos taken isn’t crucial to success, but it certainly won’t harm your listing.
