In the article, Geordie discusses how AI is fundamentally changing the advertising industry and the opportunities it presents for businesses.
"The focus for us is using it to augment what we currently do and make it better," Geordie explains, emphasising our approach of empowerment with guard rails—something we prioritise with both our clients and our team.
Looking ahead, the potential is significant. "I think it's going to revolutionise how we communicate with businesses," Geordie notes. "It's going to enable hyper-personalisation so people's experiences in the digital space are very specific to them."
While the opportunities are exciting, Geordie was candid about the risks. One of the biggest concerns? Data privacy and the potential for information leaks when using AI language models.
"There is a super-high risk of your data being leaked into the sandbox for these language models and you don't know what's happening and how it could be surfaced."
This concern is particularly relevant following the Privacy and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2024, which passed in December last year. Advertising companies now face penalties if they don't obtain consent for data-driven marketing.
At Bang Digital, we're mindful of the data we feed AI systems and have implemented tools to ensure our clients' privacy is protected. It's not just about compliance—it's about operating responsibly and building trust with our clients and their customers.
